Three Scientists Awarded Nobel Prize In Medicine
The award ceremony will be December 10, the anniversary of the death of Alfred Nobel, who founded the prizes.
Three scientists were awarded the Nobel Prize in medicine for work on the human immune system.
Mary E. Brunkow is a senior program manager at the Institute for Systems Biology. Fred Ramsdell is a scientific advisor for Sonoma Biotherapeutics. Dr. Shimon Sakaguchi is a distinguished professor at the Immunology Frontier Research Center at Osaka University.
“Their discoveries have been decisive for our understanding of how the immune system functions and why we do not all develop serious autoimmune diseases,” the committee said.
The award is the first of the 2025 announcements and the Nobel Peace Prize will be announced on Friday. The award ceremony will be December 10, the anniversary of the death of Alfred Nobel, who founded the prizes.
