Man Facing Charges In Connection To Several Incidents
It was discovered that Jody Hairston forced himself into a man's home, assaulted him, then stabbed him.
One man is facing charges following several incidents.
On September 18, police were called to a home on Baytree Road in the Florence area of Darlington County.
Upon arrival, officials learned that a man held victims at gunpoint demanding items from them. He then fled the scene on foot, leaving his vehicle. Deputies tracked the man’s car, leading them to a nearby location on Eagle Point Drive. There they found a house in flames.
It was discovered that Jody Hairston forced himself into a man’s home, assaulted him, then stabbed him. He then set fire to the house with the man inside and stole his car. That victim was identified as 77-year-old Perseus Grice Jr. who did not survive the attack.
The next day police located Hairston following another burglary incident. He has been charged with two counts of armed robbery, first-degree arson, first-degree burglary, two counts of possession of a weapon during a violent crime, second-degree burglary and grand larceny. He is also charged with murder and possession of burglary tools.
