Human Remains Found In Home That Caught Fire
The structure did not have power and appeared to have been "uninhabited for an extended period."
Human remains were discovered in a vacant home that caught fire Wednesday afternoon in Marlboro County.
A field caught fire along Dupree Road off of Highway 9 in Bennettsville. The flames spread and damaged a portion of a home.
Fire personnel found the deceased body within the residence. The structure did not have power and appeared to have been “uninhabited for an extended period.”
Many agencies were called to the scene to assist in an investigation. A forensic autopsy has been scheduled to determine the cause and manner of death.
The victim’s identity has not been publicly revealed at this time.
