IRS To Begin Phasing Out Paper Tax Refund Checks
Most refunds will be delivered by direct deposit or other secure electronic methods.
The IRS will soon begin phasing out paper tax refund checks for individual taxpayers.
The change will start Sep. 30. It comes as a result of an executive order that requires the transition to electronic payments for all federal disbursements and receipts.
Most refunds will be delivered by direct deposit or other secure electronic methods. Those without access to bank accounts will be provided a list of alternative options.
The move aims to protect taxpayers, expedite the refund process and cut costs associated with paper. Taxpayers are advised to continue filing their returns as they normally would, using existing filing options.
