That list included President Trump, who said Charlie was a “martyr” for “American freedom.” He also repeated plans to award Charlie the nation’s highest civilian honor, the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
Charlie’s wife, Erika, also spoke and vowed to continue his legacy with Turning Point USA. She also spoke about forgiving the man accused of taking her husband’s life, saying that is what God and Charlie would do.
The 31-year-old conservative activist was shot and killed at an event at Utah Valley University. 22-year-old Tyler Robinson has been charged with aggravated murder, among other charges as the suspected gunman.
