A corrections employee at an adult detention center has been arrested for trafficking narcotics.

The Marlboro County Sheriff’s Office intelligence unit intercepted jail communications referencing trafficking involving an employee.

An investigation prompted detectives to confront Bryce Byrdsong as he reported for duty. They discovered narcotics in his personal possession leading to a consent search of his vehicle which uncovered more narcotics.

Byrdsong now faces charges of official misconduct, trafficking with an inmate, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of marijuana. He reportedly has no prior disciplinary history.
