Charges Expected In Connection To Fatal Robeson Co. Crash

A vehicle was traveling south on the road when it veered off the left side before striking a tree.

Charges are expected in connection to a single-vehicle crash that occurred in Robeson County.

The accident happened last Saturday on Shaw Road near the Parkton community. A vehicle was traveling south on the road when it veered off the left side before striking a tree.

23-year-old Cherokee Christie, of Maxton, was a passenger in the car and was not wearing her seat-belt. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the vehicle sustained life-threatening injuries and had to be airlifted to a hospital. The driver was also not restrained and speed was a factor. It’s suspected that impairment may been involved as well.

The driver’s identity has not been publicly revealed and their current condition is unknown. An investigation remains underway.
