CCU Alum Breaks Record In 2025 World Athletics Championship

Melissa Jefferson Wooden is undefeated in the 100m run this year, and is the fourth fastest woman of all time.

A Coastal Carolina University alumni broke a record Sunday.

Melissa Jefferson Wooden competed in the 100m race in the 2025 World Athletics Championship in Tokyo.

She finished in first place after running it in just a little more than 10 seconds. Her time set a new world championship record.

She is undefeated in the 100m run this year, and is the fourth fastest woman of all time.
