Hours-Long Standoff In Florence Co. Leaves One Person Dead

A situation that unfolded in Florence County turned deadly Wednesday evening.

Deputies with the sheriff’s office reported to a home on Anderson Field Road near Dewey L. Carter Elementary School.

A man came out with a gun, threatening to kill the deputies as they prepared to enter the home.

That prompted an hours-long standoff involving more than 20 officials that led to gun fire exchange.

The suspect was injured and transported to a hospital where he later died.

No deputies were harmed during the standoff.
