Gov. McMaster Signs Hands-Free and Distracted Driving Bill
The law will go into effect September 1.
Gov. Henry McMaster signed a new legislation into law.
A ceremonial signing was held at 11am Thursday morning that made official, the Hands-Free and Distracted Driving Act.
The law bars drivers from holding or supporting an electronic device with any part of their body while driving.
That means that drivers are not allowed to hold a phone to make a call or use navigation while operating a vehicle.
The law will go into effect September 1.
