Department Of Defense Grants $200M To AI Companies

The companies will work to develop AI agents across several mission areas at the agency.

The U.S. Department of Defense said it is granting millions to several AI companies.

The agency has awarded contracts of up to $200 million each to OpenAI, Alphabet’s Google, Anthropic and Elon Musk’s company xAI.

The deals aim to help the agency develop AI work-flows that will address critical national security challenges.

The companies will work to develop AI agents across several mission areas at the agency.

“The adoption of AI is transforming the department’s ability to support our war-fighters and maintain strategic advantage over our adversaries,” the DOD’s chief digital and AI officer said.
