Senate Passes Amended Recession Package

The package passed 51-50, with Vice President JD Vance breaking the tie.

The Senate has voted to pass a package regarding spending cuts.

Advancing the ‘recessions package’ approves $9 billion in spending cuts across federal fund. It impacts a move Congress previously approved for foreign aid and public broadcasting.

The package passed 51-50, with Vice President JD Vance breaking the tie.

The passing votes came after an amendment that cut $400 million from the initial package.

The amendment of the bill means it will head back back the GOP controlled House again which will need to approve the new amendments before President Trump can sign it into law.

The House narrowly passed the pre-amended package 214-212 in June.
