Suspect Accused Of Shooting Robeson Co. Deputies To Be Sentenced

Shawn Locklear Jr. opened fire on Jonathan Walters and Kaelin Locklear as they attempted to detain him.

The suspect accused of shooting two Robeson County sheriff’s deputies is set to be sentenced.

On November 7, 2023, Shawn Locklear Jr. opened fire on Jonathan Walters and Kaelin Locklear as they attempted to detain him for violating conditions of his pretrial release while he was out on bond for a murder charge.

Both deputies were injured before the suspect stole a patrol vehicle and ran Walters over. Both victims have since recovered from their injuries.

The suspect was also shot during the exchange and was later taken into custody. He has pleaded guilty to multiple federal felony charges and is set to be sentenced on September 9.
