Lake City Announces Changes To Curfew For Minors
Instead of midnight to 6am, children 15 and under will not be allowed unaccompanied from 10pm-6am.
Lake City has announced changes to juvenile curfews in their area.
Mayor Yamekia Robinson discussed the Walmart incident in which a juvenile fired shots at an employee.
No injuries were reported but she stated it is not okay to pull a gun “if you’re mad or upset with someone,” adding, “that’s not the answer, that’s not the solution.”
The city voted to change its juvenile curfew. Instead of midnight to 6am, children 15 and under will not be allowed unaccompanied from 10pm-6am. For 16 and 17-year-olds, the new curfew is 11pm-6am.
The penalty for a first offense is a fine of up to $100. A second warrants a fine of $100 to $500, and a third receives a penalty of $100 to $500 and or public service time not to exceed 100 hours.
