20 Injured After Lightning Strike At Lake Murray
It was reportedly a sunny day without rain, but the lightning stemmed from a random storm cloud that passed by.
Several people were injured after a lightning strike at Lake Murray in Lexington County Tuesday.
Around 4:45pm, fire crews responded to the Dominion Beach Park and were met with 20 patients at the scene.
12 people in total were transported to hospitals with non-life threatening injuries. Those hurt range from adults to children.
The incident occurred after a bolt of lightning hit the water energizing a metal cable with buoys that surrounded the swimming area.
Several people were grabbing a hold of the cable when it was struck, others were swimming near-by.
