Darlington Co. Crash Claims Life Of 13-Year-Old

A crash in Darlington County claimed the life of one child.

The accident occurred shortly before 8am Thursday on Bay Branch Road near Lamar.

A 2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer was heading west when it veered off the right side of the road and struck a ditch before crashing into a tree.

A 13-year-old girl did not survive the crash and a woman had to be airlifted to a hospital. The identities of those involved have not been publicly released.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the incident.
