United Changes Check-In Cut-Off For Flyes Without Checked Bags

United Airlines is making changes to its check-in process.

Travelers flying with the airline will have to check-in to domestic flights a littler earlier starting next week, but, only if they are only traveling with carry-on bags.

Beginning Tuesday, United’s “check-in cut-off” for most U.S. flights will be 45 minutes before departure. That’s the same deadline United has for passengers checking luggage at the airport. But that is 15 minutes earlier than the current check-in cut-off for flyers without bags to check.

Most major U.S. carriers have online check-in systems that can be used at least 24 hours in advance.

However, carriers have been tightening their policies as part of strategies for maintaining on-time departures.
