City Of Conway Lifts Open Burning Ban

The lift means residents can resume outdoor burning within city limits.

The city of Conway has lifted its ban on open burning.

The burn ban was placed due to increased fire risk in the area. The lift means residents can resume outdoor burning within city limits while following guidelines and precautions.

Though conditions have improved, the city’s fire department is reminding residents to never leave a fire unattended, keep a water source nearby, and be mindful of wind conditions and make sure fires are fully extinguished before leaving.

In addition, the Covington Drive Wildfire that has been burning since March 1 is now 93% contained. It burned more than 2,059 acres in size but the recent rain has helped continue to smother the fire, even still, more rain is needed.
