David Steiner has been selected to become the nation’s 76th postmaster general.
He is the former CEO of that nation’s largest waste management company and currently serves on the FedEx Board of Directors.
Steiner’s appointment announcement was made by Amber McReynolds, chairperson of the USPS’ Board of Governors, during a meeting of the independent group that oversees the service.
She said they anticipate Steiner will join the organization in July assuming he will successfully complete the ethics and security clearance processes that are currently underway.
Steiner, who will leave the FedEx board, said that he admires the public service and business missions of the USPS and called it “an incredible honor to be asked to lead the world’s greatest postal organization.”
