18-Year-Old Loris High School Senior Victim Of Fatal Shooting

Shortly before midnight on Tuesday a bullet entered through a window of a residence on Horry Street.

An 18-year-old Loris High School senior has been identified as the victim of a fatal shooting.

Shortly before midnight on Tuesday a bullet entered through a window of a residence on Horry Street.

Ja’Niya Richburg died as a result of the incident.

The school took to social media to say she was “known for her vibrant personality as well as her outstanding achievements in both academics and athletics.”

Richburg was a member of the basketball team and became the first at the school to record 1,000 rebounds and 1,000 points.

She had plans to enroll in pre-med at the University of South Carolina in the fall.

The incident remains under investigation. Anyone with information is urged to contact Conway police.
