Suspect Arrested For Setting Fire To Pennsylvania Governor’s Residence

38-year-old Cody Balmer told police that he set the fire and planned to beat Shapiro with a small sledge hammer.

A man is facing charges in connection to an arson incident in Pennsylvania.

Around 2am Sunday night, a man scaled an iron security fence, eluded police, and broke into the Pennsylvania Governor’s mansion.

Josh Shapiro, his family and guests were forced to evacuate the building after the man set fire to the building which caused significant damage.

38-year-old Cody Balmer told police that he set the fire and planned to beat Shapiro with a small sledge hammer if he found him.

Balmer now faces charges including attempted homicide, terrorism, aggravated arson and aggravated assault. He admitted to harboring hatred towards Shapiro but did not explain why.

The Governor said he is unbowed and that if Balmer was trying to stop him from doing his job, then he’ll work harder.
