Death Toll Climbs Following Dominican Republic Nightclub Incident

The legendary club was packed with musicians, professional athletes, government officials, and civilians.

The death toll continues to climb following the roof collapse of a Dominican Republic nightclub.

Just after midnight on Tuesday, the roof of the Jet Set club in Santo Domingo fell through during a performance by singer Ruby Perez.

As of Thursday morning, 218 people are confirmed to be deceased including Perez. At least 189 others were “rescued” but many are suffering from injuries they sustained.

The legendary club was packed with musicians, professional athletes, government officials, and civilians. However, the exact number of people inside at the time of the collapse remains unclear.

The cause of the roof collapse is also not immediately known at this time as authorities investigate the wreckage. Rescue efforts are still underway.
