Trump Implements 90-Day Tariff Pause For More Than 70 Countries

The pause was placed as a result of the foreign countries willing to negotiate a deal with the Trump administration.

On Wednesday, President Trump announced a 90-day pause on tariffs for more than 75 trading partners.

The higher reciprocal tariffs of 10% were announced last week. However, the pause was placed as a result of the foreign countries willing to negotiate a deal with the Trump administration to drop their tariffs.

It also came as a result of China escalating the trade war. As Trump implemented the pause on other countries, he raised China’s tariff to 125%. That comes amid a back and forth battle between the two countries.

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said that the negotiations with the individual countries involved in the pause will take place over the next 90-days with hopes to reach agreements.
