Over 100 Dead Following Roof Collapse Of Dominican Republic Nightclub

Rescue crews are working to dig through the rubble to locate victims buried underneath.

The roof of a popular nightclub in the Dominican Republic collapsed Tuesday.

The roof of the Jet Set nightclub in Santo Domingo collapsed, claiming the lives of at least 113 people and more than 155 people were taken to hospitals.

Among those dead include Nelsy Cruz. She was the governor of the northwestern province of Monte Cristi. She was also the sister of seven-time MLB all-star Nelson Cruz.

MLB pitcher Octavio Dotel also died after being pulled from the debris as well as Dominican baseball player Tony Cabera.

Dominican merengue singer Rubby Perez was performing at the club and did not survive the incident either.

Firefighters have removed blocks of broken concrete and debris as they dig to locate victims buried underneath the rubble.
