China Threatens Countermeasures Against Trump’s Additional Tariff Threat
President Trump threatened an additional 50% tariff on Chinese imports
China has threatened to take countermeasures in response to Trump’s tariffs.
President Trump threatened an additional 50% tariff on Chinese imports prompting the country to make its own moves against the U.S. to safeguard its own interests.
The Commerce Ministry said the “so-called reciprocal tariffs” on China is “completely groundless and is a typical unilateral bullying practice.” It added “the U.S. threat to escalate tariffs on China is a mistake on top of a mistake and once again exposes the blackmailing nature of the U.S., China will never accept this. If the U.S. insists on its own way, China will fight to the end.”
Trump’s threat of additional tariffs on China came after the country said it would retaliate against the tariffs announced last week. If Trump implements his new tariffs on Chinese products, U.S. tariffs on Chinese goods would reach a combined 104%.
