Judge Orders Trump Admin To Return Man Deported To El Salvador

The Trump administration has until midnight on April 7 to return a Maryland man who was deported to El Salvador in March.
On Friday, a federal judge issued the order after the administration admitted that it had mistakenly deported Kilmar Abrego-Garcia. He was accused of being a part of the MS-13 street gang. However, U.S. District Judge Paula Xinis said there is little to no evidence to support the “vague, uncorroborated” allegation.” Abrego-Garcia is currently being held in a notorious mega prison.
“As defendants acknowledge, they had no legal authority to arrest him, no justification to detain him, and no grounds to send him to El Salvador … let alone deliver him into one of the most dangerous prisons in the Western Hemisphere,” Judge Xinis said.
The government previously argued that it could not be forced to bring him back because he is no longer in U.S. custody. The judge disapproved of that argument and the Trump administration must now bring him back to the U.S..
