Investigation Opened After Child Shot In The Pee Dee Area

An investigation is underway after a child was shot in the Pee Dee area.
Wednesday night, police were called to the 1400 block of Willow Trace Drive in Florence.
Upon arrival, authorities were informed that an 8-year-old was eating dinner when a bullet came from the apartment upstairs and struck them in the arm and leg.
The resident upstairs said he was cleaning his AR-15 firearm when it accidentally went off.
The child was transported to a hospital to be treated for injuries but their current condition is unknown.
No charges have been filed at this time as investigators work to learn more.
