Horry County School board members have reviewed a potential budget for the 2025-26 academic year.
The budget proposal includes an employee step increase based on years of service as well as a cost-of-living adjustment.
It also involved a $1.3 million increase for substitute teacher hiring, increased charter school payments, around $128,380 for training and hiring of bus monitors, and a one year lease extensions for modular classrooms across several schools.
The proposal also included further investments in AI programing of $200,000 for tools to support teacher planning, grading and instruction.
The final version of the proposed budget will be presented in May.
