Dancing Might Be Better for Stress than Exercise
If you're under stress, it may be a good time to put on your dancing shoes!
A new study published in the Psychology of Sport & Exercise says dancing may do more to alleviate stress than working out at the gym. The research found the combination of music, social interaction, and physical movement makes dancing a very effective tool for both reducing stress and boosting mental health.
Dancing with a partner or in a group enhances stress relief by providing social support, physical touch, and a sense of connection, which triggers the release of hormones that can promote feelings of pleasure and well-being. Some researchers have gone as far as to call dancing a “stress vaccine.”
