UFC Legend Conor McGregor Bids For Irish Presidency

The Irish fighter has never held a political post but has appears to have support from Trump, who welcomed him into the Oval Office Monday.

A UFC legend announced his bid for Irish presidency.

Conor McGregor confirmed his bid to run for Ireland’s presidency Thursday. He promised to preserve his native country by tackling immigration.

He decided to campaign as a leader in opposition to the European Migration Pact, which would create a streamlined approach to border security and immigration as well as speed up the asylum process for European Union members.

McGregor has suggested citizens vote on implementing the pact instead of the legislation only receiving approval from the houses of the Oireachtas  and the president.

The Irish fighter has never held a political post but has appears to have support from Trump, who welcomed him into the Oval Office Monday.

The next presidential election is expected to take place by November 11.
