“Boeing may not have pulled the trigger, but Boeing’s conduct was the clear cause, and the clear foreseeable cause, of John’s death,” the lawsuit said.

The family of the man known as the Boeing whistleblower is suing the company.

62-year-old John Barnett reportedly shot himself in March, 2024, after answering questions from attorneys for several days.

He was a longtime Boeing employee and worked as a quality-control manager before he retired in 2017. In the following years, he expressed his concerns with journalists and revealed secrets within Boeing. He was eventually diagnosed with PTSA and his mental condition deteriorated.

Barnett was called in for questioning regarding an investigation into Boeing after several incidents before his death. His family has now filed a lawsuit saying Boeing subjected him to a “campaign of harassment, abuse and intimidation intended to discourage, discredit and humiliate him until he would either give up or be discredited.”

“Boeing may not have pulled the trigger, but Boeing’s conduct was the clear cause, and the clear foreseeable cause, of John’s death,” the lawsuit said.
