Some acne medication has been voluntarily recalled for containing elevated levels of a cancer causing chemical compound.

The FDA tested 95 products containing benzoyl peroxide, the ingredient is widely used to treat acne but can form benzene as a byproduct.

  • Proactiv Emergency Blemish Relief Cream Benzoyl Peroxide 5%
  • Proactiv Skin Smoothing Exfoliator
  • SLMD Benzoyl Peroxide Acne Lotion

They were sold nationwide and on-line.
