S.C. Wildfire Update

The fire in Marlboro County along the 87000 block of Academy Road are now 100% contained.

We have an update on a few wildfires that are still burning across the state.

The fire in Marlboro County along the 87000 block of Academy Road are now 100% contained. It is unclear how many acres are involved at this time but residents say you can see smoke for miles.

Separately, the Carolina Forest Wildfire has reached 65% containment. The fire has been the largest in the recent outbreak across the Carolinas and has been burning for 13 days. The blaze has burned over 2,000 acres.

Fire crews said the recent rain has assisted in putting out the fire. Helicopters continue to assist with water drops. Crews will continue fighting the fire as well as monitoring the flames as they are stationed in the southwestern area to saturate any hot spots to prevent flare-ups.
