Ontario Premier Plans To Impose Tariff On Electricity For Three U.S. States
Premier Doug Ford said they're going to put a 25% tariff on electricity coming from Ontario to Michigan, New York and Minnesota.
The Premier of Ontario says he could impose a tariff on electricity to three U.S. states in response to recent Trump tariffs.
Earlier this week, a 25% tariff on most import goods from Canada went into effect.
Premier Doug Ford said they’re going to put a 25% tariff on electricity coming from Ontario to Michigan, New York and Minnesota.
The leader said new tariffs are scheduled to be implemented Monday in an effort to push back on Trump’s international economic measures.
Ford said tariffs will only hurt families on both sides of the border.
The White House nor governors of the three states have not yet commented on the threat.
