CCU’s President Departs To Take On Position At WVU
Coastal Carolina's board has already called a committee to initiate a national search for his replacement.
The president of Coastal Carolina University is leaving for another school.
Dr. Michael Benson has been selected to be the next president at West Virginia University.
The West Virginia board of governors voted 15-2 to have him replace Gordon Gee, who is retiring.
Benson has acted as CCU’s president for the past four years after taking on the role in October of 2020. He officially took over as the school’s third president in January of 2021.
Coastal Carolina’s board has already called a committee to initiate a national search for Benson’s replacement.
Vice Chair Natasha Hanna and Secretary/Treasurer Patrick Sparks will serve as chair and vice chair on the search committee.
