Skeletal Remains Found In Robeson County

The remains were submerged in a flooded pit beneath an abandoned water plant.

An investigation is underway after skeletal remains were found in Lumberton.

Around 4pm on Friday, the Lumberton Police Department and Robeson County Sheriff’s Office reported to the area of 600 Water Street.

The remains were submerged in a flooded pit beneath an abandoned water plant.

The Fayetteville Police Department’s dive team were called to the scene to assist in recovering the remains.

They were then sent to the North Carolina State Medical Examiner’s Office to be examined.
