Over 27,000 Customers Lost Power Across The Grand Strand

A vehicle struck a utility pole near Joe's Diner by the Myrtle Beach International Airport.

More than 27,000 Santee Cooper customers were without power Thursday morning and we now know the reason why.

Around 7:15am, a vehicle struck a utility pole near Joe’s Diner by the Myrtle Beach International Airport.

The incident resulted in a black out throughout several neighborhoods and caused chaos in traffic as signal lights were also impacted.

Around 3,000 Horry County Electric Cooperative customers also lost power.

Service was restored around 8:30am.
