President Trump Signs Order Regarding Youth Gender Transitions

The order aims to cut federal support for gender transitions for people under age 19.

President Trump signed an executive order regarding transgender youth.

“It is the policy of the United States that it will not fund, sponsor, promote, assist, or support the so-called ‘transition’ of a child from one sex to another, and it will enforce all laws that prohibit or limit these destructive and life-altering procedures,” the order says.

The order advises federally-run insurance programs to get rid of coverage for such care and calls on the Department of Justice to pursue legislation to oppose the practice.

The order also encourages Congress to adopt a law that would allow providers to be sued by youth who receive gender-affirming care and regret it or their parents.

Overall, the order aims to cut federal support for gender transitions for people under age 19.
