Police Pursuit Leads To Fatal Crash In Robeson County
38-year-old Mario Hernandez Jr. was a passenger of the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Robeson County police are investigating an incident that resulted in the death of one person.
On Wednesday, officials attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of Union Chapel Road in Pembroke.
The vehicle failed to stop for blue lights and continued at a high rate speed.
The Chevrolet Malibu, hit a mailbox and a ditch before overturning and hitting a tree on Moss Neck Road.
38-year-old Mario Hernandez Jr. was a passenger of the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Two other individuals were treated at a hospital for injuries.
28-year-old Eric Hammonds was determined to be the driver of the car and is facing pending charges. He was also taken to a hospital and is still being treated for life-threatening injuries.
The N.C. Highway Patrol is investigating the death of Hernandez as well as the vehicle collision.
