If you plan to visit the UK from here on out, there are a few changes you should know.

Visitors to the UK from dozens of countries, including the U.S., Canada and Australia, must now pay to enter Britain after a new visa-waiver entry system took effect Wednesday.

The ‘Electronic Travel Authorization’ is similar to the ESTA system in the U.S..

It requires visitors who do not need a visa to enter Britain, to acquire pre-travel authorization. You will have to apply for and purchase an “ETA.”

Each member of a family must have an ETA including babies and children. It will cost about $12.50 to apply.

Eligible travelers will need to apply even if they are just using the UK to connect to an onward flight abroad.

The authorization lasts for two years and is valid for multiple entries. Travelers can apply online through the UK government website.
