The man accused of killing UnitedHealthcare’s CEO is fighting his extradition to New York.

26-year-old Luigi Mangione faces charges out of New York including murder after the fatal shooting of Brian Thompson. He was denied bail during his appearance in a Pennsylvania courtroom.

In his first public words since a five-day search ended with his arrest, he could be heard shouting, “insult to the intelligence of the American people.”

Mangione remains jailed in Pennsylvania. There he was initially charged with possession of an unlicensed firearm, forgery and providing false identification to police.

Mangione’s lawyer said his client would plead not guilty to the Pennsylvania charges. He added he’d advise Mangione to enter the same plea to the New York charges.
