Max To Begin Cracking Down On Password Sharing
The company will be collecting data to find out which users are sharing passwords with other households or simply traveling.
Max is joining the long list of streamers that are cracking down on password sharing.
The company announced the crackdown will kick-off next week with some “early, gentle messaging.”
People who appear to be in the higher tier of usage will begin receiving messages first.
In the first quarter of next year, Max will begin offering “a way to add a member.”
The company will be collecting data to find out which users are sharing passwords with other households or simply traveling.
The password rollout will then slowly happen throughout next year.
The change is similar to Netflix’s “Extra Member” accounts and the recent Disney+ password-sharing solution.
