Trump will become the second president to lose a reelection campaign but return to the White House four years later.
In a historic election, Donald Trump will become the 47th president of the United States.
A victory in Wisconsin secured Trump 277 electoral college votes which surpasses the 270 needed to secure the White House.
The Wisconsin win came after Trump won the electoral college in Pennsylvania, Georgia and North Carolina, all of which were key swing states that were decisive territories in the presidential race.
As of now, he is also leading in the popular vote with 51% of returns.
Trump will become the second president to lose a reelection campaign but return to the White House four years later.
Grover Cleveland was the only other president to win a non-consecutive term.
