An incident on Georgia’s Sapelo Island left several people dead and others injured.
On Saturday, crowds gathered for a fall celebration by the island’s Gullah-Geechee Community.
During the event, a gangway at the ferry dock collapsed, sending people plunging into the water.
Eight people were taken to hospitals to be treated for injuries. Six of them are reportedly in critical condition. At least seven people were killed in the collapse.

There was no collision with a boat or anything else to suggest why the dock’s structure failed. Officials are working to reveal more regarding the incident.
