The current nearest shelter is in Georgetown County, but the new Horry County location will house twice as many people.

It will have 24-hour security, pet accommodations and a designated space for male clients.

The Family Justice Center of Georgetown and Horry Counties will host the ground breaking ceremony for the new facility on October 23 at 10am along East Cox Ferry Road in Conway.
