PepsiCo To Add More Chips To Bags Amid Backlash
The change comes as consumers have been buying fewer snacks amid record-high inflation.
PepsiCo is making a move after major backlash from customers.
The owner of Lay’s, Doritos, Tostitos and Ruffles will now add more chips in some bags.
Shoppers have consistently complained about less amounts of chips as well as many other products that have experienced shrinkflation, which has prompted consumers to turn to cheaper options.
During PepsiCo’s third quarter, snack sales declined 1% from the same period a year ago, and retail snack volumes declined by 1.5%.
Now, PepsiCo is working on it’s response by releasing Tostitos and Ruffles ‘bonus’ bags that will contain 20% more chips for the same price as standard bags in select locations.
