7-Eleven announced plans to close over 400 underperforming stores.

Among 13,000 locations 444 of them will be closing. It’s unclear which stores will be affected but we do know the closures are expected to happen in the fourth quarter of this year.

Among a variety of issues, traffic and sales were challenged amid record high inflation which impacted 7-Eleven’s earnings. A decrease in cigarette sales and a shift in consumer appetites also played a role in the decision.

The overall closures amount to 3% of the chain’s total stores. Meanwhile, 7-Eleven plans to expand its food and beverage options, as people seek affordable meal options amid high inflation.
