President Biden Visits The Carolinas To Witness Hurricane Helene Damage

Biden said, "I'm here to say the United States, the Nation, has your back. We're not leaving until you're back on your feet completely.''

President Biden paid a visit to the Carolinas Wednesday to witness Hurricane Helene’s aftermath.

The leader visited Greenville, South Carolina as well as got an aerial view of Asheville, North Carolina. He was able to survey the major devastation Helene left behind in these areas as residents are still working to access the extensive damage that shattered communities, homes and lives.

Over 900,000 homes and businesses remain without power across the Carolinas alone.

While standing alongside N.C. Gov. Roy Cooper at an emergency center in Raleigh, Biden said, “I’m here to say the United States, the Nation, has your back. We’re not leaving until you’re back on your feet completely.”

The president will be in Florida Thursday to survey their damage.

The death toll from Hurricane Helene has now surpassed 180.
