Fatal Crash Claims The Lives Of Seven People
The driver of the third vehicle suffered injuries that are believed to be non-life threatening.
We now have an update on a crash that resulted in seven deaths last week.
Around 6pm on Thursday evening, a three-vehicle crash occurred in the Pembroke area of Robeson County.
Two vehicles were traveling west on Highway 711 when one of them swerved left of the center in attempt to pass the other one.
The vehicle sideswiped the one it was trying to pass and then hit a third vehicle as well. The vehicle attempting to pass then caught fire after coming to a stop at the edge of a swamp.
All seven occupants of that vehicle were pronounced dead at the scene. Three of them were reportedly ejected in the incident.

The vehicle that was sideswiped initially left the scene, and the driver has not been identified at this time.
However, officers said that vehicle did not contribute to the crash.
The accident remains under investigation.
