Thousands Of Demonstrators Protest After Six More Hostages Die In Gaza
Three of the six were reportedly scheduled to be released in the first phase of a ceasefire proposal recently discussed.
Tens of thousands of Israelis took to the streets Sunday demanding Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reach a ceasefire deal with Hamas.
The mass demonstrations came after six hostages were found dead in Gaza. Three of the six, including an Israeli-American, were reportedly scheduled to be released in the first phase of a ceasefire proposal recently discussed. This fueled the frustration among the protesters.
The military reported all six hostages were killed shortly before Israeli forces arrived. It was determined they were each shot at close range and died on Thursday or Friday of last week. The bodies were discovered in a tunnel in the southern Gaza city of Rafah.
Hamas has offered to release the remaining hostages in return for an end to the war, the withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza and the release of a slew of Palestinian prisoners, including high-profile militants.
